Cheema FV Racing will join the Formula Virtual grid in 2019 as they become the second new team to be announced. Ahmed Cheema will lead the Irish team into their first Formula Virtual season after stating his intent to join the grid for many months.
Cheema will race with the numbers 17 and 18, while the chassis will be named the 'CFVR/Immad 01'. It is highly believed that the team will run with Alfa Romeo engines and thus becoming a customer team for the surprisingly competitive Ocelot team. However this is yet to be officially confirmed by Ocelot and Alfa Romeo. Nic Morley and Ahmed Cheema sat down and hosted a press conference to announce the exciting news. "Firstly I just want to note my disappointment of seeing Westwood leave, they were a brilliant team who have and will be sorely missed and I wish them luck in the future. However, it's a big honor to have been picked to be part of the 2019 Formula Virtual Championship season. Since I started following the series since... last year, wow... my dream was always to have a team here and to see it come true is really amazing personally. It'll be tough to get the team into noticeable territory but we are ambitious and willing to push and push for success" "Obviously we won't be anywhere near the front or midfield at the start but I believe we will be a liked small team who hopefully will be challenging for the championship one day. We are definitely determined to do well and won't give up. We're a small group of motorsport fans and engineers who want to try a new challenge, and as I said we won't be any where near the front at the start, but our main objective is to win the title in the future. I'll let Nic carry on now but thank you all for being here and big thank you to Nic for picking us!", said Cheema. Nic Morley took hold of the microphone. "I am very happy to reveal that Cheema FV Racing will be joining Formula Virtual in 2019. It was a no brainier decision, as Ahmed clearly has an arguably unrivaled passion for the sport. I met Ahmed about a year ago and since then he has been a very regular man you will see walking down the paddock, he is genuinely just interested to be among it all. I have no doubt in my mind that Cheema FV Racing will be a great benefit to Formula Virtual and a team I can see staying for the long haul" "We are in a very exciting week for Formula Virtual. The 100th race coming up next weekend and the three new teams being revealed. Cheema become the second team, and with that become part of the Formula Virtual family. I would like to give Ahmed Cheema and his whole team a very warm welcome, and I wish them the very best for their upcoming FV career", said Morley. With the return of Lucas and the addition of Cheema, Formula Virtual has now expanded to fourteen teams for 2019 - and thus confirming their will need to be some form of pre qualifying added. Speculation will now begin on when their engine supplier will be confirmed, their drivers for 2019, and of course who will be revealed as the fifteenth team. Comments are closed.
