Formula Virtual team BMPS Scuderia Meteor launched their new car online today ahead of the 2021 Formula Virtual season. Last season the team showed off a much-changed livery to reflect the change in ownership and it seems that the mainly black and orange colour scheme could be here to stay under the ruling of the Caliri family. The ‘SM221’ features many of the same sponsors from 2020 such as; BMPS, Eni, Alitalia, Fondmetal, Magneti Marelli and Mr. Caliri’s own company Caliri. Alessi and Fila have increased their presence on the car with the engine cover reflecting their respective company colours. New additions to the car include Benetton and Italian liqueur company Pallini, who have a large presence on the side pods. Carson Davenport has joined the team on loan from Lucas for the year and a quote from the Portuguese veteran was included. “I’m very thankful to Lucas and the team for giving me the opportunity to continue my career here at BMPS Scuderia Meteor when it looked as though I may not have a drive for 2021. So far here everyone in the team is very good and we all are on the same page about what we want to do this season. It might be one of my harder years in FV but I look forward to the challenge.” Felix Beyer is at the team for a second season, driving the number 6 car. “I am excited to get the car to testing and see where we are. I don’t think we can expect any miracles but I hope that the guys have found a secret way to go faster with the new regulations.” Shane O’Connell, who has been Team Principal at the team since the Caliri takeover, is impressed with the new car. “The colours are a continuation of the new identity that started in 2020 but with some changes with Alessi and Fila increasing their representation on the car, it is very nice. We have looked at the new rules and gone for a radical design to try to jump up the grid, we will see in testing how that has worked for us.” Pictures of the SM221 are below.
