Team owner Harry Westwood has released a statement saying that his two current drivers, Douglas Bacon and Keith Boston will have to fight for their chance to have a seat for races next year. He has said he will keep a personal tally from here and make some notes each race to determine who will be taking the racing seat alongside Tumo Kinnumen next season. He said he was happy to take one of the seats away from one of the drivers currently racing so Kinnumen could drive.
He also said that Kinnumen will be the formal number two driver; meaning that whoever wins this showdown, so to speak, will lead the team's next campaign. He told us that points will not just be a factor, however. "Using points alone is quite the flawed system. One driver could race extremely well a lot, but have some technical failures. One could be really consistent, but the other gets a standout performance at a track that suits them. It's all about the driver himself, while points are a guideline once you have an idea of how each driver goes about racing. It's not as simple as it seems. I feel it will be a close competition, and I won't say anything on who I think has the upper hand for this showdown, but I will say Boston will have to step up his game." This should create an exciting end to a spectacular season. The driver's championship going down to the wire, the constructor's championship having several battles at the front, the back and in the midfield. We can't wait to see how this little showdown turns out either. One thing we do know is that the pressure is now back on.
