Klaas van Snelheid has come back to form after the summer break, beating his rival Enrique Ruiz to the fastest lap time by less than three hundredths of a second. Ruiz had led for the majority of the session before the Dutchman clinched P1 with his final qualifying run late on. They were the only 2 drivers to break into the 1:07's. Following them was Nathaniel Powers, Felix Perez and James Vasquez, who utilised the slipstream provided by van Snelheid on the main straight to set the 5th fastest time on the session. The Colombian was the meat inside of a FIRST sandwich, as Will Hoskins rounded out the Top 6. Ocelot showed promising signs as both of their drivers finished the session in the Top 10. Hunter Ryan 7th, and Dominykas Zvironas, who is vying for a seat elsewhere, came home in 10th. Between them came Johan Halvosen and Allar Kangar, who are ready to lock horns again this weekend in the battle for the weekend. Kangar however reported an issue on his in lap, which the team are trying to get to the bottom of tonight. Carson Davenport was another man who took full advantage of the slipstream en route to P11, just ahead of Beckenbauer and the 2 Pheonix cars. Following them was arguably the last man you'd have expected to finish a session in P15 this year, in Adrien Simon. The Frenchman has been on a fairly rocky road in 2020. Getting stuck in traffic when his qualifying run came around didn't help his cause this afternoon either, and he was certainly far from impressed on team radio. Puccio Giodano, Jean Mattson and Elroy Wagner followed, the trio relatively outpaced by their teammates. From Adrien Simon in 15th to Marcus Thunder in 26th however, 12 cars were separated by less than 2 tenths of a second. This sets up a thrilling and crucial qualifying session tomorrow as 1 tenth could be the difference between Row 6 or Row 11 for Sunday's race, with scorching temperatures in the low to mid 30's forecasted. After Thunder came Felix Beyer and Nick Addison. The latter of the 2 was outclassed by his returning teammate in Enzo Domenicalli all throughout the session, as the Italian plonked himself up in 22nd position, 2 and a half tenths clear of Addison. Although commenting that his right arm was slightly sore at one stage, Domenicalli looked like he had barely missed a beat despite missing the past 4 races with injury. The 2 AMR's meanwhile brought up the rear of the field. See below for the full classification after Free Practice:
