Despite announcing earlier in the season that all drivers in relation to Meteor Motorsport would be out of a drive for next season, Kazuki Armos has now revealed he is considering re-signing Frenchman Gerard Alaniz over fears of a lack of French talent amongst drivers. Gerard Alaniz has currently had a very inconsistent season but while both of his teammates have failed to score points, Alaniz has managed to score points and reached a career best 5th in Malaysia.
Armos has been heard saying he still sees potential in the struggling Frenchman and has insisted that the current car is failing the team. Alaniz recent performance is said to have signalled Armos to consider the Frenchman for a new drive after his driver from the back row to the points. As Meteor are entering next season as Peugeot Grand Prix, the recently increased prize money has allowed Armos to carefully consider their drivers for next season. While there will undoubtedly be French rookies available for next season, Armos has insisted that there may not a young driver with suitable talent to take on the seat. The team are rumoured to be considering Fillipo Fazio and Enrique Ruiz for test and reserve driver roles. British driver of the former BMW Zyla squad is said to be considered for the lead driver role. It is unknown whether Alaniz would be taking on the second driver role and retaining the race seat or moving into a position of 3rd driver. We expect that he would only take the race seat if a young French driver was found, but the team want to progress him into the seat for the following season. Otherwise, we expect him to be involved highly in test sessions and be reserve driver in case of any driver accidents.
