Nick Addison took the honours in Free Practice for the Mexican V-Prix, setting the benchmark time in his Franklin-Honda with a 1:20.810, just twenty eight thousandths of a second ahead of the #21 Mathershaw Porsche of Enrique Ruiz. A gap of three tenths of a second separated the leading pair from Marcus Thunder in third, an impressive performance from the Brit coupled with fifth place for Indianapolis race winner Maximilian Thunstrum capping off yet another impressive session for Lucas V-Prix. Thierry Xylander took fourth position in his Phoenix only half a second away from the head of the timesheets, while title contenders Nathaniel Powers and Klaas van Snelheid were in 6th and 8th for Downton, with seventh placed Allar Kangur acting as the filling in a Downton sandwich for Lopez. Adrien Simon in the Porsche was ninth, while Johan Halvosen made it onto the first page of the timing screens with an impressive lap to put him tenth for North Star, under seven tenths of a second away from the fastest time. FIRST Motorsport seemed to have a relatively difficult session relative to the high standards that at least Felix Perez has managed to uphold, but Stefan Klien, fresh from the news of his full-time arrival on the grid for 2022, took 12th place while replacing Will Hoskins, half a tenth ahead of Perez in 14th. Tumo Kinnumen's pace in the Westwood-Porsche was strong in 13th, while as team-mate to fastest man Addison, Danilo Forini's 15th place will come as a disappointment for a team that are embroiled in a battle for second in the constructor's championship with Porsche and Lopez. Ocelot pairing Puccio Giodano and Hunter Ryan were 16th and 18th, with Elroy Wagner making his final visit to Mexico, the venue of his title win, ending up 17th. James Vasquez will be hoping for more after a 19th place for Ingram fresh off his timesheet topping performances in Daytona Beach for the Virtual 24 Hour, while Yakumi Takahashi was solidly in the top 20 for Arrow. Brock Kidd will be disappointed with 21st, 11 places and three tenths of a second away from his team mate, while AMR's Max Meyer and Finn Schnyder showed consistency in 22nd and 23rd. Jules Barclay sat out the session, with Jochem van Snelheid making his return to a Formula Virtual cockpit with 24th place. Jean Mattson and Zander Brynildsen were 25th and 26th, while taking up the rear of the standings were the Highwiinds and Meteors flying in formation, with Nikolai Milkovich, Karl Beckenbauer, Felix Beyer and Carson Davenport all facing a struggle to qualify for the 2021 Mexican V-Prix.
