The Abu Dhabi Junior Grand Prix sees the 24 drivers working their way through the track at night, which will produce some exciting conditions for the drivers, and Luke Stokey is very close indeed to becoming champion...
Mikko Heininen manages to get pole with a fantastic lap, Zrigovic, Dubois, Agretha and Gerrard follow. Championship leader Luke Stokey is in 12th, but knows he is in a great position for the championship.
Gerrard takes the lead, Heininen drops to second. Wright makes a great start to get from 10th to 3rd. Sadly, Dubois loses engine power and is forced to retire from a brilliant grid spot. Moretti also retires from 15th after spinning and hitting the wall, breaking his rear wing. Stokey remains 12th
Gerrard remains in first place. The big news here is the retirement of Heininen, he attempts to lap Oliveira-Martins but catches his rear wheel, causing a large accident between them. Vahasoyrinki and Taylor have technical issues. Luke Stokey looks very close to the title now, as he has produced beautiful driving to make his way up to 5th.
Gerrard still leads, Zrigovic second. However, we lose another frontrunner, as Wright makes a mistake in a chicane and breaks his suspension over a high kerb. Brandon is now third, Dekzwabber extremely consistent in fourth, but Luke Stokey has fallen to 9th, not looking so comfortable now!
The race ends, Jamie Gerrard wins! But with all due respect, that is not the big story here! We have 8 retirements in the space of 10 laps, the cars have not been able to handle the attrition! Both VW's retire, Zrigovic out from second, Costa retires from what would have been one of his best results! Unbelievable action! What about Stokey, has he made it through the carnage of broken cars to finish? YES! He comes home in fourth place! LUKE STOKEY IS THE IJGPC SEASON ONE CHAMPION!!! WITH ONE RACE TO SPARE!!! Westwood entered a race late, but have dominated! They also win the constructors championship, I don't believe it!!!!!
Unbelievable scenes here in Abu Dhabi, Westwood and Stokey will be celebrating long into the night, and the final round in Pau is going to be exciting, nothing left behind in the garages, all out on the track. See you then, and congratulations to the champions, and of course to Gerrard for the victory.
