"We're delighted to welcome Lewis into the team," team principal Cory Evans commented in a live stream done by the team at 17:30 CEST on their Facebook page. "He's had a strong start to the season in IndyVirtual after what - by his own admissions - was a sub-par year last season with AMR. He is a proven race winner however and we are very happy that he is the man to lead us forwards this season. I would also like to extend my thanks to Kavin Kannan and the entire Kannan GP team for making this deal possible."
While not present, Evans read a quote from Kannan that stated: ’Lewis has done a great job this season for us to carry the team forward with his experience. We will be grateful with the job he has done to help us fight with the big names but both sides are ready to move on and prepare for the long term. I’m sure Lewis will enjoy his return to Formula Virtual with an exciting team like Holmqvist. We are happy to welcome Aron to the team from the remainder of the season to help us push for the title’.
Ellington was alongside Evans in jeans and a t-shirt due to his contractual obligations with Kannan, from which he will only be released following the next IndyVirtual round at Sebring, when he will be free to join Holmqvist in time for the Spanish V-Prix. "I am very excited about this move," Ellington started. "While IndyVirtual has been brilliant, FV is where my heart lies and to return is great - especially with a team that has a car with as much promise as Holmqvist. For now this deal is only until the end of the season, but who knows what will happen from there. I'm hyped for this opportunity and would just like to thank Cory for showing the interest, and Kavin for allowing me the chance. After last year, I have unfinished business and a point to prove."
