Not long after qualifying, an Earthquake has hit the Malaysian regions of Negeri Sembilan and Selangor, the circuit been not far from the border of these 2 Malaysian regions. The Earthquake hit the small town of Port Dickson, about 18 miles south of the circuit, at exactly 8:53pm Local Time. It only reached 4.5 on the Richter Scale at PD, and 4.1 at the circuit. All teams were at the circuit getting ready to leave when the quake hit. Only Dylan Lopez and Lucas Wilson however opened up to the media on the state of their garages and the race, as all other managers refused interviews as the cleanup began.
Dylan: I didn't realise the quake had hit until a good 30 seconds after it began when I was abruptly dropped by my hammock in the warm evening conditions. I tried to stay away from the buildings incase they gave way, but by the look of things, nothing has been even minorly damaged. Hopefully no one has been severly injured in the quake, and I also really find it sad that race fans may not be able to see a race after paying good sums of money in the months before the Grand Prix. Hopefully the track is a-ok and we can still entertain the locals on Sunday. Lucas: First and Foremost, I hope nobody is hurt, obviously people are shaken, I just hope this does not upset all of the loyal fans who have come to see a great race. The garage looks like it had Nic Morley's birthday party in there so will be as quick as we can to hopefully be ready for the race. If the race does go ahead tomorrow, teams can expect a high of 38 degrees and 90% humidity, which will come down to who can get the most rest tonight in what is a very stressful time for all teams and fans here in Malaysia.
