Carson Davenport has put in arguably the most incredible performance of the season, taking pole position six tenths clear of second placed Adrien Simon. It was the shock that no one expected in the paddock. Will Hoskins led most of the session before being pipped by Adrien Simon. However it was Carson Davenport who had the speed as he posted a time of 1:26.340 to go top the qualifying table. More incredible is the fact the Portuguese driver is believed to be heavier fueled than his rivals. Davenport will start on pole ahead of Adrien Simon who set a time of 1:26.982. Franklin F1 and Team 23 will fill out the next two rows, with Hoskins ahead of Nathaniel Powers, Jean Mattson, and Elroy Wagner. It was even more cheer amongst the Lucas Wilson garage as Hugh Dwyer posted the seventh fastest lap time; rapping up a great day for the team. Douglas Bacon's fastest time was good enough eight, ahead of Puccio Giodano and Jawa Ahmad. While his teammate qualified in second, Karl Beckenbauer could only manage twelfth after making a mistake right at the end of his best lap. The German was set to perhaps make the second row. It was a dry qualifying and it seems there will be no change for the race. The forecast predicts a dry race with rising temperatures. After the astonishing do or die lap from Davenport which landed him pole position, the pressure will be on him to make the most of the opportunity. Fans will also be watching the battle for fourth fourth between Nathaniel Powers and Jean Mattson. With just five races to go the pair will be desperate to finish ahead of each other as every point is precious.
