Brock Kidd has taken his fifth pole position of the season as he splashed around the streets Birmingham just over three tenths quicker than Championship leader Oleksandr Zozulya, who beat him to the win in Monaco last week. Despite the tricky conditions, the top four in the Championship proved their worth - taking the top four positions on the grid, with Felipe Cesar third and Will Taylor fourth, the home racer the last within a second of Kidd's pole time.
Sebastian Bergkvist found a somewhat return to his Germany form with the fifth best time ahead of Kip Maxwell, while Aron Einarsson was joined on the fourth row by the Swedish racers team mate, Olen Inman putting in easily his best performance of the season in the difficult conditions to ensure both Porsche cars will start inside the top eight. Just behind the Monegasque - by one thousandth of a second - was BMW Highwind driver Otso Toivonen, the Finn another star of qualifying showing pace ahead of where the car has regularly placed. Stuart Harrison completes the top ten for Renault while the two Tesla cars line up behind on the sixth row, their qualifying positions matching their car numbers. Rodrigo Sanchez put in another strong performance for Nakley Toyota, but Alexander McLaughlin was caught out by the conditions, the Kiwi finding himself down in sixteenth with a lot of work to do to hang onto the coat tails of the leading Championship challengers. Ryota Yoshida didn't fair much better - just behind McLaughlin - while the usual suspects made up the back two rows, some four seconds off of the fastest time.
