A joint announcement has been made by Jaguar Racing and Formation Competition, which will see the two teams join forces for the 2022 eVirtual World Championship. The announcement comes just days after Jaguar finished their second season in eVirtual as runners-up to Downton for the second season in succession. Their lead driver, Will Taylor, also finished as runner-up in the Drivers’ Championship, losing out to Mitsubishi’s Alexander McLaughlin by just four points. “Jaguar Racing have had an excellent first two seasons in the eVirtual World Championship” said Team Founder Gerd Mauser. “We have only finished behind Downton across both years and taken three race victories, alongside eleven other podium finishes. This initial success puts us in a great position as an established top team in eVirtual, which we of course want to maintain and strive to improve on. For the 2022 eVirtual season, we will be entering into a new partnership with Formation Competition, who have experienced immense success in the various junior series in which they have competed in. This partnership, which will see Jaguar supply and develop the power units while Formation Competition oversee the actual running of the team and develop the chassis, should put the team in the strongest position possible to achieve our short and long term goals.” Formation Competition, who are based in Monaco, have so far amassed 14 Teams’ Championships, 16 Drivers’ Championships, 159 wins, 340 podiums, and 11,300 points across the various series they have competed in. The team began life when the ART IJGP team was bought out by Louis Vasseur and his team, following the 2013 season, and have since competed in the International Junior Grand Prix Championship (2014), Formula Single Seater Championship (2014), European Junior Grand Prix Championship (2014), FV2 Winter Series (2014-15 – 2015-16), FV2 Series (2015 – 2018), Virtual World Racing Series (2015 – present), FV3 Series (2015 – 2018), Virtual European Racing Series (2015 – present), IndyVirtual Series (2017 – 2018), and eV2 Series (2021). The team has overseen the junior careers of some of Virtual Motorsport’s brightest young stars, including; Jochem van Snelheid, Kiara Thunder, Olen Inman, Johan Halvosen, Klaas van Snelheid, Finn Schnyder, Drake Davies, Allar Kangur, Dominykas Zvironas, Will Taylor, Ryota Yoshida, James Vasquez, Sebastian Bergkvist, Urmo Kruuda, Max Meyer, Sam Hudson, and Gabriele Garcia, as well as Matteo Zetticci, Daniel Zientek, Spencer James, Ott Eskola, Chloe King, and Barney Hoskins in recent times. It is understood that Louis Vasseur, the longstanding Team Principal of Formation Competition, will take over the Team Principal’s position from Callum Brandon, who will move to an advisory role within the team.
