Official classification from the 2022 Italian eV-Prix. All bar four of the cars that lined up on the grid opted for an Attack power strategy, with the four going for Balanced. Vocquelin rolled off from his first ever pole position with Zarins and Hutchinson alongside, and the Championship contenders further back. Part 1Zarins and Hutchinson slipped back over the opening quarter as Kiara Thunder and McLaughlin closed on leader Vocquelin, but further back Championship leader Marcus Thunder made little progress as the Attack runners pitted a handful of laps before the Balanced runners. Part 2Just as the race was settling down, a big incident eliminated six cars. Some small contact between Maxwell and Ostberg sent the Downton man into the barrier and across the track, and while trying to avoid the bright orange car, Kasami managed to collect the other one, taking himself and Marcus Thunder out of the race. With three cars now to dodge, it became difficult for those behind, and Milkovich, Brzyski and Campos all got tangled in the drama before a lengthy safety car period to clean up the mess, during which the Attack runners had to pit, promoting the four Balanced cars to the head of the field, albeit briefly before they too pitted once green flag running resumed. Part 3McLaughlin was starting to pressure Vocquelin for the lead, but had a power failure just past the halfway point, giving the Frenchman breathing space as the defending Champion was left to rue a missed opportunity to close on Thunder. Hudson meanwhile suffered a gearbox issue, but with the car stranded on track, another safety car was called. Once again, this fell perfectly for the Balanced runners who cycled to the front, but they couldn't build enough of a gap this time before their final stops and fell far back, as Bergkvist worked his way into second to start challenging his team mate. Part 4The Swede tried what he could, but Vocquelin held strong for his maiden win in eVirtual, Signature celebrating an exceptional day and a first ever 1-2 finish. Zarins gave Mitsubishi some joy with an exceptional drive to a first ever podium, ahead of Cesar who recovered well to fourth having started outside the top ten.
