Kip Maxwell will start on pole position for the final triple crown race of 2017 - the Mazda V-Prix of California at the famous Laguna Seca circuit - just weeks after it was announced he will contest the entire IndyVirtual campaign next season with Signature Performance. Maxwell was evidently in good spirits following the news and was nearly four tenths clear of second placed Felipe Cesar - the highest of the championship contenders.
Yakumi Takahashi heads the second row from Brock Kidd, while Formula Virtual championship leader Nathaniel Powers will start from fifth; the highest placed of the Formation Competition drivers and ahead of team mate and championship contender Marcus Thunder. Both Aron Einarsson and Rodrigo Sanchez also impressed with 7th and 9th respectively, but Felix Beyer was disappointed with just 23rd place. The Dutchman is currently second in the Triple Crown standings, three points behind Nick Addison who starts from 8th. See below for full qualifying classification:
