Following the dramatic win in South Africa earlier today. It was confirmed by Cerberus team principle Oliva Rose that current championship leader Felipe Cesar would in fact remain with the team for 2018. ''Felipe has done an amazing job for us this season, he's managed two wins for us and has really kept us in this fight! We have been so impressed and knew he deserved a contract extention and it was just a matter of time before all parties came to an agreement. We saw some fantastic battling today between him and Addison which has really shown to the world the competition in this sport.''
The news should come by as no surprise considering that Cesar has managed to hold his ground against former FV driver Enzo Domenicalli who many believed would be a contender for the championship. It has not been confirmed who will partner Cesar for 2018 However OlIva Rose remained confident in Enzo's ablility. ''It's a real shame for Enzo, we know he has the ability it's just that the luck hasn't fallen on his side yet. But we value him highly at the team and know what he's capable of when everything comes together for him.'' The Sasol V-Prix of South Africa was held at the Kyalami circuit in initially glorious conditions, with Yakumi Takahashi and Felipe Cesar holding the first two spots on the grid. Championship leader Brock Kidd held third ahead of his nearest rival Nick Addison in fourth.
Yakumi Takahashi has become the tenth different driver to take pole position this season, as a late lap for the Japanese Team Morley driver denied the championship top four a lockout at the front of the grid.
