Lancashire Racing Team have today announced their 2018 IndyVirtual driver line up. Both Callum Brandon and Alex Wright have been confirmed to have kept their seats in the team for at least another year after a mediocre debut IndyVirtual season for the team. In 2017 Wright, more often than not, outperformed Brandon, scoring 235 points to the latter’s 135. Team principal Daniel Rowe, along with both Brandon and Wright, were at the team’s base in Wesham earlier today to talk briefly with the press. Rowe was asked about how he felt his team had performed in their first season, to which he replied “We had an okay first season in IndyVirtual. We always knew it would be a tough one for us as one of the smallest teams, but we managed to finish the season in ninth place ahead of CopaMundo and Aggies which we were all thrilled with! It’s safe to say that Kip (Maxwell) hugely helped us out with his Formula Virtual experience, and for that we thank him. I’d like to wish him the very best with Signature Performance! As for Callum and Alex, we at Lancashire Racing Team all feel that they both performed solidly and more importantly for us, they both gelled incredibly well with each other and the team in general. We feel that they both deserve another season in IndyVirtual.” Callum Brandon came across quite ecstatic about his retention; “I’m so happy in this team, everyone here at the factory and all the guys and girls who travel round with us are brilliant. As Daniel said, me and Alex gelled really well together and it was awesome having Kip around at certain events too. I was a little down at the end of the season in all honesty as it was a tough one for me, results wise.. but Daniel and the management team decided to keep me on for next season, I’ll do everything I can to show them that they made the right decision!” Alex Wright was asked about his thoughts on where the team might be in the pecking order next season; “Ha! We wish we knew! It’s impossible to predict to be honest. I think it’s obvious that we all want to be scoring top ten finishes and even more on a regular basis, but right now, we’re solely focused on gradually improving the team both on and off the track, in everything we do. Like Callum, I’m very happy to be staying here for another year for all the reasons he said, and also the fish and chip shop down the road do some brilliant spam fritters!” After the press frenzy at the thought of fish and chips had calmed down, Daniel was asked about the replacement for Kip Maxwell; “We’re in talks with a number of drivers. We ideally wanted this sorted long before now but circumstances have prevented that happening. The biggest requirement is someone who fits into the team as well as these two guys, it does also help if they can use a steering wheel. That is all we can say for now!” The team has not yet confirmed anything regarding their 2018 livery or sponsors, but have said they're working on both currently.
