The VWRS entry list has been announced for 2021, and while Italian Matteo Zetticci undoubtedly headlines it and goes into the season as the title favourite, he'll have some stiff competition. Making up the grid are no fewer than nine former VRS Champions - and one FV3 Champion - seven VWRS race winners and two eVirtual racers.
Daniel Zientek and Hector Draper are expected to lead the charge of Zetticci's challengers, while returnees Urmo Kruuda, Erik Oliversson and Raj Sharma will also be hoping to take up the fight at the front of the field. Robert Stefánsson and Hitoshi Katayama - who are both currently racing in eVirtual - will step back down to VWRS for their first seasons in the category, having gone into eVirtual from VERS and VOARS respectively. Both have struggled to find their feet to an extent, and hope that honing their skills in VWRS first will make them better as drivers. This means both will be unavailable to remain in eVirtual for 2021, though it is understood both of their team bosses were in agreement with the moves, citing enthusiasm to work together again in the future. With a year of top level racing under their belts however, both could be strong contenders in the series. In addition, there is a wealth of talent in the 2021 rookie contingent. Not only do all three tier three Champions step up to the plate - Ott Eskola, Henri Ruotsalainen and Carlos Zapatero - but they're joined by rivals such as Spencer James, Heikki Veskila, Chase Newfield and Theo Sørensen, all of whom will be hoping to make an immediate impact. Pre-season testing will take place in March, giving us our first glimpse of the 2021 line-up, and an early indication of who to look out for in the year ahead.
