Zayna Radif, the 2022 Virtual Oceania-Asia Racing Series Rookie Champion, has become Phoenix Motorsport’s newest recruit after signing for their Young Driver Academy; The Hive. Radif, from Saudi Arabia, made her debut in the VOARS this season with Perfection Racing and performed admirably; picking up three wins and a further eight podiums on her way to third in the overall standings. Her nearest challenger in the Rookie Championship, Yosef David, also had an impressive first season in Tier 3 but could not match Radif’s consistent speed throughout the entire season. Following the news of Radif signing to be a member of The Hive for 2023 breaking on social media, Radif said “This opportunity, joining the academy of a Formula Virtual team, is one that I will grasp with both hands. To get to this point in my career already, despite some struggles away from the track, makes me so proud but I know that this is only the beginning of things getting really serious now. I have to continue to improve and show everyone next year that Phoenix have made the right decision by signing me as the newest member of The Hive.” Royal Phoenix Motorsport Founder and Team Principal Alex Easton commented on the signing of Radif “Zayna is an incredibly exciting talent, she really is one to watch over the next few years in the junior series. To come in and straight away finish within touching distance of Timo [Ziegler] and Charyl [Ratanarak], both in their third seasons at that level, is an immense effort and really shows the potential that she’s got. It’s not just that though. Anyone who knows how we operate at Phoenix knows that anyone involved with our team has to be of a certain mindset and personality, Zayna’s certainly got that. She’s already overcome an insane amount of adversity in her life so far at the tender age of just seventeen but, if anything, it’s only made her stronger. I’d hate to be one of her rival drivers next season, because she’s going to be absolutely formidable.” Radif will become the sixth driver to have been an official member of The Hive since Phoenix became a Formula Virtual outfit. eVirtual driver Ethan Matthews and Highwind Formula Virtual star Daniel Zientek are two drivers who have progressed to the top tier of Virtual Motorsport since graduating from The Hive, while Ott Eskola looks certain to receive a well-deserved promotion to Formula Virtual following an outstanding VWRS season where he won the title with ease. Chloe King is in her first season in VWRS where she is currently the leading rookie with one race weekend remaining. Barney Hoskins, son of Formula Virtual driver Will, was the last driver before Radif to be signed to The Hive and has just been crowned the 2022 Virtual European Racing Series Champion.
