For next season, there will be a new championship: The British Touring Car Series, or BTCS for short. Each car will use 2.0 litre turbocharged engine units. 1.0 The Cars Within reason, any brand and model of car may be chosen, and preference should be given to the 'sports' trim level of the car, for instance for the Honda Civic, the 'Type R' specification should be used, or for the Ford Focus, the 'ST' or 'RS' specification should be used. Cars will be accepted or rejected at the discretion of the governing body. 1.1 New Brands Should Downton and Westwood wish to enter their road cars into the series, they are free to, but must supply details of the car to the governing body in addition to a single concept sketch of the car - simply a pencil sketch is sufficient, no matter how simple. 2.0 The Calendar The Calendar for the championship is as follows: Round Venue 1 Brands Hatch GP 2 Donington Park GP 3 Thruxton 4 Castle Combe 5 Oulton Park Island 6 Croft 7 Snetterton 300 8 Knockhill 9 Mondello Park International 10 Rockingham 11 Silverstone National 12 Birmingham Superprix 2.1 Possible Changes The calendar may be changed at the discretion of the promoter, including adding or removing rounds, or re-arranging the calendar. 3.0 Teams Each team can be composed of 1, 2, 3 or 4 cars. Each team can be an independent entry or a manufacturer backed entry, though there can only be one manufacturer entry for each brand of car. The only restrictions to this are that a single car team must be independent, and a four car team must consist of no less than 2 independent cars. 4.0 Technical Regulations Each car will be made equal over four areas: Handling, Engine Power, Aerodynamics and Stability. When choosing a car it is advisable to bear the following factors in mind: - Cars with a shorter wheelbase will handle better than cars with a longer wheelbase - Saloon cars will have better aerodynamics than a hatchback, and will be more stable in the long, fast corners. - Handling is important for the tighter tracks of the calendar, while Stability is the main determining factor on tracks with high speed corners. 4.1 Technical Equalisation After round 4 and round 8 the Balance of Performance will be adjusted to ensure that the cars remain evenly matched, so in theory every car should be capable of a race victory. 5.0 Race Format Each championship round will consist of three races, with a reverse grid race three. 5.1 Reverse Grid The reverse grid will be between the first 6 and 15 drivers reversed, with the number decided by random draw following the second race. 5.2 Points System Pole Position in Qualifying: 1 point Fastest Lap in each race: 1 point 1st: 25 2nd: 20 3rd: 17 4th: 14 5th: 12 6th: 10 7th: 9 8th: 8 9th: 7 10th:6 11th:5 12th:4 13th:3 14th:2 15th:1 6.0 Entry Please private message Mathers on the forum to enter.
