Dutch businesswoman and engineer Roos Vroom has this evening confirmed she will take over Grip Autosport for the 2018 IndyVirtual season. The team have long been under scrutiny with the former team owner having mysteriously vanished part way through the 2017 season. The team will be renamed Vroom Autosport, will run under a Dutch license, and will switch car numbers to 46, 47 & 48, but the majority of staff will be retained at the team. They will also continue to use Toyota manufactured cars.
Roos is relatively unknown in the virtual racing world, with the 35-year old from Amsterdam having graduated university with an engineering degree. She has spent the past ten years building up her own mechanical engineering company - Vroom Engineering - and has been successful enough to open up shop all over the world. "I am very excited about this opportunity," she commented in a brief press conference. "To be able to compete in this series is fantastic and I look forward to it. Nonetheless I am under no illusions that there is a lot of work to do." Grip had no drivers signed for 2018 and while nothing is confirmed, early rumours indicate Keith Boston will remain, while the team are also seeking at least one Dutch driver.
