Yakumi Takahashi will continue to race for Morley in IndyVirtual in 2018, despite it being announced back in May that he would be joining Marcus Thunder at Formation. The Monegasque team agreed a deal with the Japanese racer to replace Dino Palma for 2018, however his relationship with his Morley team has improved of late having deteriorated slightly earlier in the season, and has prompted him to have a change of heart.
"When we agreed this deal I really felt it was for the best," Takahashi commented. "I was happy with Formation and excited at the prospect of joining them, but recently I've had a change of heart and decided I'd rather stay with Morley. I owe an awful lot to all of the guys and girls at Formation and especially Louis Vasseur for sorting this out for me." "We're disappointed that Yakumi has changed his mind, but there's no point holding a driver to a contract when he clearly doesn't want to race with you," Vasseur commented. "We've spoken to Nic and agreed a deal, and Yakumi will return there next season." There has been no confirmation from Morley as to which car Takahashi will run in, yet despite it being widely expected he will continue to race the #11, rumours have suggested he may be moved into the #10 car. Meanwhile there have also been rumours about who will join Marcus Thunder at Formation for 2018, with Dino Palma top of the list to get a shock call-back. "We haven't really thought about this yet," Vasseur replied when pressed. "Of course we will and probably fairly soon, but as to who is on the shortlist, we don't even have one. I'd be surprised if Dino's name wasn't mentioned however."
