Yakumi Takahashi has picked up in New York where he left off in St Petersburg, by taking pole position ahead of the second race of the season at Watkins Glen. The Japanese driver - who currently leads the Championship - lapped four tenths quicker than Aron Einarsson, the Icelander completing the front row after a stunning late lap. Kip Maxwell will line up third for Signature Performance, ahead of Felipe Cesar, Will Taylor, Scott Parsons and Brock Kidd, as seven different teams fill the top grid slots.
Nick Addison could only managed eighth - over a second behind his team mate - while Stuart Harrison in ninth was a second and a half down on the pole sitter - but crucially for him in a much better position than at St Petersburg - with Hugh Dwyer in the third Morley car completing the top ten. The session wasn't without incident however, as a collision between Luke Stokey and Keith Murphy brought out a red flag at around the mid-point of the session. The two drivers just appeared to drift into one anothers paths and collide, both ending up off the circuit and stranded in the gravel, but without too much damage. It did however resign them to starts of 23rd and 25th respectively. See below for full qualifying classification:
