Yakumi Takahashi has become the tenth different driver to take pole position this season, as a late lap for the Japanese Team Morley driver denied the championship top four a lockout at the front of the grid. Felipe Cesar looked as though he was going to add an immediate second pole position to follow his maiden one last time out in Germany with Brock Kidd alongside, but Takahashi's lap - less than a tenth quicker than Cesar - demoted them to second and third. Nick Addison completes row two while Marcus Thunder is fifth, sharing the third row with his sister Kiara.
Marcus was disappointed with fifth on a circuit that should suit the Jaguar package, evidenced by the strong performances of Rodrigo Sanchez and Alex Wright, who line up on row four for CopaMundo and Lancashire Racing Team respectively. Behind them Aron Einarsson and Enzo Domenicalli completed the top ten, but the biggest surprise of the session was the disappointing performance of Will Taylor. The Brit has been very strong in recent races in the sole-car Rodeo Racing outfit, but an "imbalance" in the car left him struggling to 17th on the grid. See below for full qualifying classification:
