Rodrigo Sanchez will leave CopaMundo and join American Engineering for 2018, replacing Dmytro Kovalenko. Kovalenko had been announced as the replacement for Mikko Heininen in the #8, but the team then agreed a deal with Formula Virtual outfit AMR to allow him to race there instead.
As such, Sanchez - who had been close to joining the team anyway before negotiations fell through - was brought in to drive alongside Champion Brock Kidd and Luke Stokey. "I am happy with move," Sanchez commented in broken English. "I am grateful to CopaMundo for start of career, but now is time to move on." "We are delighted to have Rodrigo in our ranks for 2018," Hank David said. "He dragged that car far above where it should be this year and we are excited to see what he can do with a proper car next season."
