Lewis Ellington has made a shock announcement that he will be joining the IndyVirtual series with Kannan GP after leaving AMR. Ellington is a race winner in Formula Virtual and has previously drove for several FV teams. He is known to be one of the quickest drivers on the grid but an off-colour 2016 meant he was dropped in favour of Will Hoskins. His agressive racing style and fiery personality have had it’s critics in the past, but he usually does his talking with the results.
Kannan GP had already announced that former FUN and Westwood competitor Romano Agostino would be with the team, but Agostino has decided to step down from a racing role in IndyVirtual in order to attempt a comeback to Formula Virtual. Ellington was buoyed with the last minute chance he had been given. ’I need to think Kavin and for being able to get this opportunity. This will be a memorable day and I’m sure I can prove my doubters wrong here. The set up here is fantastic and we have a lot of good people being the scenes working well. If the development of the cars goes well I’m sure my hunger and prowess for success will show with this easy field to navigate.’ Team principal and founder Kavin Kannan was away and unable to comment, but former Formula Virtual driver Gerard Alaniz, who has taken up a management role at Kannan GP, stepped in. ’It’s an honour to welcome a driver like Lewis to Kannan GP. We believe he is one of the fastest virtual motorsport drivers and he will definitely be at the top next year.’
