Lewis Ellington topped the time sheets on the opening day of the final pre-season test as the all new IndyVirtual cars had their maiden run on an oval. Predictably it took a few drivers a while to adjust, with five red flags interrupting running. The Chevrolet chassis is best suited to oval circuits, so it was perhaps no surprise to see them lock out the top two positions, with all six teams they supply inside the top eight - but the speeds were so close they didn't look to have a comfortable advantage. Ellington was 1.1kph faster than his closest rival - Felipe Cesar - but that did him no good at all when he brought out the fourth red flag of the day after losing the back end in turn two. The first casualty was Didier Arnaud after just two hours, with the Frenchman languishing down in eighth as a result, having been fastest at the time. Will Taylor and Marcus Thunder also caused delays before Ellington crashed while local driver Keith Boston - the only driver running today with previous experience of the circuit - ended the day early after crashing with just seven minutes remaining on the clock.
