The 2017 Steak n' Shake IndyVirtual Series Championship leader Brock Kidd has taken pole position for the title deciding race in Macau tomorrow, putting himself in prime position to claim the inaugural crown. Kidd's pole position puts him 33 points clear of second placed Nick Addison - who lines up alongside on the front row - and means he needs a finish of just 11th place or better to take the title.
For a while it looked disastrous as he languished in sixteenth place, unable to get a clean lap without traffic, but with just seven minutes to go Kidd flew to the top of the time sheets to displace Yakumi Takahashi by nearly eight tenths. Addison popped into second in the dying minutes, knocking his Morley team mate from the front row, while Enzo Domenicalli will start from fourth as he looks to end a rather disappointing season on a high. Grip Autosport - who are rumoured to be being taken over for 2018 - were impressed by locking out row three with Kiara Thunder and Keith Boston - ahead of the third Championship contender Felipe Cesar. Will Taylor will start alongside on the fourth row as he looks for another strong result to end an impressive season while Morley managed to get three cars inside the top nine as Daniel Bruner knocked the fourth Championship contender Marcus Thunder to the bottom of the top ten. Further down twelfth place for Jawa Ahmad would have further concerned Morley's rivals ahead of 2018 while Drake Davies, Luke Stokey and Keith Murphy were all left scratching their heads following a tricky session. Likewise the Lancashire Racing Team, who will start on the back row of the grid for the second race in succession. See below for full qualifying classification:
