Nick Addison has comfortably taken pole position for the opening race of the 2018 Steak 'n Shake IndyVirtual Series with a lap time six tenths of a second quicker than team mate Yakumi Takahashi, who starts alongside. The Australian was on form throughout the session and never looked like being bested, while Takahashi was also a rather comfortable three tenths clear of third place, the Team Morley pair somewhat dominating proceedings.
Felipe Cesar lines up third ahead of Kiara Thunder who stunned for new outfit Vroom Autosport, while defending Champion Brock Kidd was delighted with fifth after a tricky pre-season for the American Engineering squad. Alongside him on the third row is the third of four Team Morley cars in the shape of Hugh Dwyer, who returns to the series after spending the latter part of 2017 with Holmqvist in Formula Virtual. Will Taylor and Marcus Thunder make up an all-British row four while Jochem van Snelheid and Keith Boston round out the top ten to cap a fantastic day for Vroom, with all three cars inside the top ten on the grid. Enzo Domenicalli just missed out in eleventh place while Luke Stokey was disappointed with eighteenth. Former FV driver Stuart Harrison struggled to twenty-second in his first IndyVirtual qualifying session while Rodrigo Sanchez's first outing for American Engineering was a disaster. The Mexican crashed after just four laps causing the only red flag of the session, and will line-up last. See below for full qualifying classification:
