Pole sitter Felix Perez and 3rd place qualifier Oleksandr Zozulya headlined the retirements in the FV2 Feature Race at Jerez, as James Vasquez had to use all the tricks in the bag to hold off Viktor Ostberg and Hunter Ryan to notch up his first win of the season.
It was a tightly contested qualifying session, but it ended with championship leader Felix Perez taking pole over James Vasquez, by just 0.07 seconds in a windy session at Jerez. Perez mastered the tricky conditions as gusts regularly caught drivers out, notably Zander Brynildsen who only managed to qualify in 21st position. The other driver who’s gone with the wind was Luuk van der Straten, who lost the rear end at the end of the session at the final corner. He was looking likely to qualify in the Top 5, but will have to make do with 17th. Row 2 on the grid is occupied by the 2 FV debutants from the Spanish V-Prix, with Oleksandr Zozulya a tenth ahead of Viktor Ostberg. Hunter Ryan completed the Top 5, but like others also struggled in the conditions and ended up 7 tenths off Ostberg’s time. Behind him only 4 tenths separate 6th through to 16th. Elnur Aliyev led the closely fought battle for 6th against the likes of Niklaus Holzberg in 7th, de la Fuente in 9th, Ellenor Haugland in 11th, and Sergio Alvarez in 16th. Full results below:
