Westwood Racing have somewhat broken the form of last minute announcements, and already announced their lineup for the coming season, that will attempt to get the best out of their newly designed 2018 machines next year.
Team principal Harry Westwood, who had held a press conference rather out of the blue at the factory, had this to say:
"Well, I'd like to thank you all for coming at such short notice. As you know, at Westwood Racing we always strive to achieve on and off the track. And we're really thrilled with the guys we're gonna be working with next year to get the most out of some very exciting looking cars. So it is with pleasure I announce that next year the number sixty-nine car will be piloted by none other than Finn Schnyder, while joining him in the number seventy will be the newest addition to our family, Karl Beckenbauer! 2018 will also see Nikolajis Christodoulou reprising his testing role, where he's been invaluable.
However, it is with a heavy heart I, no, we, have to bid farewell to Tumo Kinnumen. He's been an utterly fantastic driver for us since 2014. After enduring difficult cars like the unreliable WR02 or the downright slow WR04, and bringing us our first taste of success in the form of multiple V-Prix wins in the beautifully striking WR03, we've mutually agreed that another team would be best for the flying Finn. Thankyou once again for turning up today guys, and we will have to wrap it up there. Help yourselves to refreshments."
Well that comes as quite a shock to the paddock! Sadly Harry refused to tell us where Kinnumen would be racing next year, if at all. To this, all he had to say was "Don't worry, you won't have to wait long to find out." before leaving with a wry smile. Well that's been all from Southampton today, we'll see you all on the grid in Austria!
