Klaas van Snelheid has become the first driver outside of the Mathershaw Porsche team to top a non-race session since team mate Nathaniel Powers took pole in Malaysia by setting the fastest time in practice for the Spanish V-Prix. The Dutchman was the first driver to break into the 1 minute 18 seconds times, though Enrique Ruiz ended the day just six thousandths shy of the Downton driver. Team mate Adrien Simon was third quickest - just a tenth and a half off the pace - showing the team look as strong as ever, while behind Will Hoskins and Felix Perez sandwiched the second Downton of Matteo Zetticci, the Italian getting his second run out of the year and ending the session nearly half a second adrift of van Snelheid. Behind the now usual top six, Tumo Kinnumen put in a sublime performance with Cheema in seventh quickest, ahead of Allar Kangur in the lead Lopez, as the team look to recover from a disappointing weekend in France. Rounding out the top ten was the now ever-present Johan Halvosen, and Belgian Thierry Xylander - the Phoenix man keen to turn his so far disappointing season around. Jean Mattson was just outside the top ten for Ingram ahead of the two Ocelot cars, with the Westwood's right in the mix too - Olen Inman once again getting a practice session in place of Karl Beckenbauer, and ending up just a few hundredths behind. Marcus Thunder showed well for Lucas in sixteenth as the last driver within a second of the fastest time - as did Phoenix's reserve James Thompson who raised a few eyebrows with eighteenth quickest - just ahead of Finn Schnyder and Yakumi Takahashi, two drivers whose solid times with give them strong hope of getting through Q1 tomorrow. Gabriele Garcia struggled again in the North Star down in 23rd, while Nikolai Milkovich complained throughout the session about the handling of his car, ending the day some 20 places behind his team mate. The day was yet worse for Meteor however, with Felix Beyer and Giani Ledesma propping up the time sheets, officially recorded ahead of only James Vasquez - who failed to set a time due to an electrical issue.
