Bradley Downton has praised the efforts of his Downton team in what he's described as 'an indescribable season' after they secured third place in the Constructors Championship following a double points finish in the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Having finished a lowly tenth out of eleven teams who completed the 2013 championship, Downton issued an ultimatum at the start of the season for his team to finish eighth or higher, or he'd pull the plug.
'After that ultimatum, I had a number of people come to me and go "are you sure about this?" And I was one hundred percent sure. I was one hundred percent sure it would work in inspiring the team to be the best they can be, and I really think they achieved it this year. They have worked so incredibly hard and I am immensely proud of every single one of them.'
'To come from where we were last year, to finish third this year with four podium finishes so far, is an incredible turn around, and praise must go to every single member of our team, from those here on a race weekend, to those back at the factory, and the cleaners and tea makers. Every single one has been instrumental in what we've achieved this year.'
'I must also thank Nathaniel, Marcus, Kipper and Kiara. Nathaniel and Marcus have been fantastic all season long and we very much look forward to having them race for us again next season. Meanwhile the work Kipper and Kiara have done in the simulator - and with Kiara, also in practice - has been vital to perfecting our set up and developments. We've very happy to have all four back with us next season.'
'Honestly, this season has just been indescribable, and I am so happy and proud of every member of our team, and thank you to every single one of them.'
'I'd also like to add, don't expect too much from us next season. The whole team know we face a huge struggle after our incredible performance this year, and our drivers know they're in for a tough year. The aim for next season is to score some points and not finish bottom. Low expectation, possibly, but I think that's realistic for our plan. The team know the idea, the drivers know the idea, everyone's excited for the future.'
