A new regular based on the idea that your biggest rival in F1 is your team mate.
Hoskins 1 Ruiz 0
Having impressed in the Ingram, Ruiz struggled in his only outing last season for Franklin. However, the real pressure is on Hoskins, as he is expected to take Powers' mantle and lead the charge. Both did well today, but I think Hoskins always had a little on his team mate.
Mattson 1 Wagner 0
Elroy Wagner has something of a quali specialist last season, taking 6 poles last season. However he struggled in qualifying and while Mattson battled for decent points, Wagner struggled to get passed a Warrior car. Mattson looked the more comfortable in the new black Team 23 car, but neither driver could replicate last season's form today.
Simon 0 Beckenbauer 1
One of the closest battles between team mates, the point goes to Beckenbauer. Simon drove fantastically to take pole, and was unlucky with his collisions. Nevertheless, the fact he collided with both Alaniz and Agostino shows a lack of patience on Simon's behalf. Beckenbauer drove much more calmly, and was ruthless once he took the lead.
Davenport 1 Phipps 0
Davenport takes spoils thanks to a stronger qualifying. Any chance of a Phipps recovery were ruined when a flying Alaniz knocked off his front wing and effectively ended his race. Davenport drove well and quick thinking in passing Milkovich guaranteed the team points.
Giodano 0 Domenicalli 1
Giodano was the faster Rossi driver in qualifying and the race and also mounted a strong recovery after an incident with Simon. The fact remains that Simon was driving without a front wing and was pitting in a few corners, meaning Giodano really didn't need to lunge in and he cost his team a potential podium. Domenicalli was unspectular by comparison but brought home 8th place and 4 points.
Ellington 0 Abott 1
A close fight between the Peugeot drivers was sadly ended when Abott ran out of fuel just before the pit lane. Ellington out qualified his Belgian counterpart, but Abott seemed to have the edge in the race and was ahead of Ellington before his car stopped. Elllington did a good job to hold off Thunder at the end, but Abott was the better driver for me.
Kinnumen 1 Boston 0
Kinnumen delivered the performance we've come to expect from the ex-Fun driver, good qualifying. gain positions steadily throughout the race and outperform his team-mate. Boston was the man chosen to partner Tumo ahead of Bacon, despite the latter's points haul. I don't think either would have matched Kinnumen today.
Dywer 1 Agostino 0
A new driver pairing yielded no points for Fun F1. Dwyer part made up for a bad quali, gaining 10 places during the race, and less than a second behind 10th across the line. Agostino was driving solidly in the midfield until his suspension failed.
Powers 0 Thunder 1
A poor weekend for the reigning champion. Being outqualified wasn't a shock, but his race was - retirement from the race ended a bad race early. Thunder, on the other hand, drove very well, converting 7th on the grid to 5th in the race. A late charge on Ellington almost yielded more but it wasn't to be.
Campos 0 Milkovich 1
The rookie who was fastest in practice continued throughout the weekend as the faster Ingram, 7 tenths faster in qualifying led to a debut point - and it could have been more if Campos had been more alert to his team mate's presence. A collision, poor strategy and a sheer lack of pace cost Campos.
Alaniz 0 Beyer 1
The point goes to Beyer mainly thanks to a very dodgy race from Alaniz, rather than anything special from Beyer. A good start from the Frenchman was ruined thanks to contact with Phipps, and Alaniz later received penalties for impeding and hitting the leaders, Simon's race in particular was ruined. Beyer drove unspectacularly, all the drivers he beat had problems and he was behind rivals Warrior.
Harding 0 Kubat 1
Another rookie impressing was Michal Kubat. Despite his car's clear lack of pace, he held off many faster cars for laps at a time, only a poorly judged move from Dywer lost Kubat some potentially crucial places. Team mate Harding struggled at his home race, and only beat a struggling Campos.
