For last season and the one current the series has been known as the F1F Virtual Grand Prix Championship, or F1FVGPC for short. Last week rumors emerged that the series was set for a name change to give the championship more personality. During a press conference ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix Nic Morley confirmed the name change.
"Firstly I want to say I am happy with how the series is running, now I think its time to help the fans tell us more apart from that pesky Formula One series. Having the F1 at the start of out name does not help. This is why after careful consideration our series will be known as the Formula Virtual World Championship as of next year. I hope the fans like the orange", explained Nic Morley,
The full name of the series will be known as the Formula Virtual World Championship. It can also be known as Formula Virtual, Formula V, or FV for short.
In what has arguably been a surprising and shocking day for the series with Hirvonen replacing Ruiz, a change of car spec for next year, and a name change; it is rumoured that even more shocking news will be revealed in the following hours.
Stay tuned, or miss out.
