The wait was finally over. The teams and drivers arrived at Algarve International Circuit, located in Portimao, Potugal. The track was covered in sun, fantastic weather to start of this years pre season testing. After all the wait, speculation, and car reveals; this was finally the chance to catch a glimpse of what the pecking order may be for this year. Who looked comfortable, who looked in total control? The answer today was easily Enrique Ruiz and Franklin Honda. The Brazilian set a blistering lap of 1.23.381, which was over a second faster then the second placed FUN of Romano Agostino. Agostino's lap time was 1.24.641. Adrien Simon was the third quickest driver of the day, powering his Liverpool to achieve a time of 1.24.732. The Liverpool being a second and half slower on the opening day of testing to it's 2014 title rivals. Stuart Harrison who will make his debut at round one of the championship was fourth quickest. The American impressed pushing the Meteor to a 1.24.983. Scuderia Rossi's test driver Jonah Phipps took control SR-03 today. The Argentian finsihed the day fifth fastest overall with a 1.25.068. 2014 FV2 champion Emma Wilson was sixth quickest for Lucas Grand Prix. The Peugeot powered Lucas set a time of 1.25.273. With testing day one done and dusted, it is inevitable that conclusions and speculation will be thrown about. Although it is only testing the time set by Enrique Ruiz and Franklin will surely play on their rivals minds tonight. Having won both championships in 2013 and 2014, many may be disheartened to see that they have potentially widened their gap to their rivals - in a big way. Pre season testing will resume tomorrow, where Elroy Wagner will jump in the Franklin for the first time. Karl Beckenbauer will take over testing duties at Liverpool, Arden Hutchinson for Meteor, Nikolai Milkovich for Ingram, Will Hoskins for Westwood, Ivan Lesic for Warrior, Judson Sikes for Ocelot, and Nathaniel Powers for Downton.
