In what proved to be a somewhat surprise result following recent races; Enrique Ruiz was fastest in practice for the British V-Prix, with Gabriele García a stunning second for North Star. García was in the car in place of Aleksy Nowosinki and ended the day just over a tenth slower than Ruiz's time of 1:30.861, with the Brazilian duo the only two drivers to lap under 91 seconds.
Klaas van Snelheid was third for Downton as the championship leaders appeared to struggle to find their now usual for 2017 leading pace, with Puccio Giodano, Nathaniel Powers and Judson Sikes fourth to sixth with their teams Franklin, Downton and North Star locking out the top six places. Powers was back in the car following his horrific accident two weeks ago in the Austrian V-Prix, the home favourite still limping heavily and with considerable strapping to reduce the pain. Despite being cleared by medics prior to the session, Powers stopped twenty minutes early and was heard complaining of pain on the radio. He will need to undergo a further assessment before a decision is taken on whether he is allowed to race this weekend. Westwood were next up with both cars in the top eight while Arden Hutchinson and Lewis Ellington rounded out the top ten ahead of Adrien Simon and their respective team mates. Johan Halvosen was impressive for Meteor by lapping quicker than Elroy Wagner in the Lopez, while the fastest Ocelot of Karl Beckenbauer was nearly 1.5 seconds slower than the next slowest car during the session.
