Enrique Ruiz showed the impressive pace once again of the Porsche Mathershaw by setting the fastest time in practice. However Zetticci in the Downton was less than half a tenth back in second, and looks set to make life difficult for the multiple world champion in Qualifying. Further back from the leading pair was Nathaniel Powers who set a time just over 2 tenths off of the pace. He'll be focusing on his race pace as Lucas are set to be excluded from Qualifying for the second race in a row, putting them on the back foot in the race for 3rd in the constructors' championship. Following that the order was slightly unusual, as some were unable to get a fast lap in at the end due to the nature of the traffic at this short circuit. Takahashi and Perez were roughly four tenths off of Ruiz in 4th and 5th, setting laptimes that were a fraction of a second apart. Looking further back, the cars of van Snelheid and Simon struggled as they were only able to get a lap in quick enough for 7th and 10th respectively, while the Phoenix cars filled out 9th and 11th, just missing out on getting both cars in the top 10. Another team who will be excluded from Qualifying tomorrow for the second race in a row will be former champions Franklin - their drivers were 12th and 14th fastest at the flag and look set for a long afternoon come raceday. The Ocelots struggled as their cars struggled to find clean air to run in, and were only able to lap fast enough for 15th and 19th - team boss Rai will surely be hoping he can get his cars into clean air for Qualifying and unlock their true pace. also among those that struggled with traffic were Nick Addison in 21st and the two North Stars, two teams desperately vying to escape from Pre-Qualifying this weekend. Vasquez also struggled down in 17th, a good lap always looking on the cards but not quite coming during the session, which will no doubt be frustrating after his maiden win last race. Further back Zientek appeared to have gotten more of a handle on the Highwind as he was only 1 tenth off of superstar teammate Thierry Xylander, and will be looking to carry that momentum into Pre-Qualifying tomorrow. Meteor's Enzo Domenicalli did well to lift his machine out of the bottom two at a circuit that has brought Meteor their best finish in the last two years - a 12th place in 2020 seeming lofty now for the Italian team. Meanwhile the Lopez cars also looked to have a torrid time of an afternoon, as they found themselves occupying two of the bottom 3 places. As expected traffic played a huge role in setting a good lap today, and it's sure to cause drama and chaos in Qualifying. Make sure you don't miss it as we'll bring you all the action.
