Enrique Ruiz became the second double pole sitter of 2018 during qualifying for the Spanish V-Prix, but that accolade very nearly went to his team mate Olen Inman, whom he beat to the head of the field by just 0.024 seconds. Both Franklin's looked strong throughout qualifying - somewhat of a surprise given Inman's rather up-and-down form - but the usual suspects of the Downton's, DS Mathershaw's and Ocelot's were a constant threat. Nathaniel Powers were pushed off the front row with a time less than a tenth away from pole, while Puccio Giodano joins him on the second row, just nine thousandths faster than Klaas van Snelheid who starts fifth. Adrien Simon's practice pace deserted him when it counted and he was nearly half a second from pole, but his team mate Allar Kangur was over a second, the Estonian lambasting traffic for his disappointing showing. A strong lap from Will Hoskins in the Holmqvist sees him starts from seventh, while team mate Tumo Kinnumen was furious with 16th after he couldn't get the car handling as he wanted. Johan Halvosen made a strong return to the series with 13th on the grid, some way ahead of his team mate Judson Sikes who once again endured a miserable session and will start from a lowly 19th.
