The Brazilian, Enrique Ruiz, will head into qualifying at Sepang with a cloud over him. The 2014 champion is st to start five places lower than what he will qualify, after being given a five place grid penalty. On lap 53 of the the season opening Australian V-Prix, Enrique Ruiz made contact with Adrien Simon while trying to pass him. Ruiz had previously pulled of the same move, thus successfully, a few times already in the race.
"I’d like to ask Nic Morley to investigate the incident between Simon and Ruiz – the Franklin driver took Adrien out of the race, and while there were numerous incidents that I think are worthy of looking at, this one in particular resulted in the victim being eliminated from the race, so I’d like to see action taken", stated DS boss, Robert Mathershaw.
Enrique Ruiz, and Franklin team principal, Jamie Franklin, were unavailable to comment on the situation. The collision with both drivers was forwarded to the stewards, an thus the decision was made.
