The grid for Formula Virtual's historic 100th race is set to look more "classic" than expected, with pictures of North Star's livery change for the event being leaked to social media earlier today, and team principal Nick Forrest later confirming these images to be true. The special one-off look commemorates some of North Star's most significant races in the series, while the black, white and pink colours have been swapped for an almost all-purple affair, reminiscent of the old Lucas team, who scored two victories in the inaugural season, before disappearing from the grid in early 2015 and being replaced by North Star. In a social media post, Forrest explained how the livery came about. "We don't have much in the way of a link to Formula Virtual's origins ourselves, but Lucas definitely did. They were right there at the very first event back at Melbourne in 2013, scored wins in that first ever season, and ultimately it was their disappearance from the grid that gave us the chance to compete in the series." "While we were delighted to join, I couldn't help feeling that a team like Lucas should have gotten a chance to go out with more than the whimper that they did," he elaborated. "I'd like to think that this can give them a slightly better send-off, and wherever Lucas Wilson is at the moment, I hope he's still doing well for himself." A number of milestone moments for North Star also make an appearance as part of the livery - from Australia 2016, the team's first ever Formula Virtual race start, to their famous victory at the 2017 Canadian V-Prix. "It's been a real rollercoaster ride so far," Forrest continued, "we've had a few disappointments in our three seasons so far, of course - that's just the way in racing sometimes - but we've also been fortunate enough to experience some truly joyous races as well, for both ourselves and other teams, and we've adorned the car with what I like to call the 'Greatest Hits' of our team so far." The post also offered a glimpse into the relationships between the teams in the Formula Virtual paddock. "We might all be trying to blow each other out of the water once the lights go out, but the camaraderie that exists off the track is nothing short of incredible. It's like one big Formula Virtual family, and as always, I've gotta give thanks to Nic [Morley] especially for keeping the series running as long as he has." "Getting to a hundred races is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved, and I can't wait to see where Formula Virtual goes in the future," the post concluded. "North Star will definitely be along for the ride, though. We're not finished making history." More images of North Star's special livery can be seen below. Comments are closed.
