Nathaniel Powers ended pre-season testing for the 2017 Formula Virtual season at the head of the times, but was run extremely close by Enrique Ruiz as the majority of teams fitted the super soft tyres. Powers' lap was set with just 14 minutes remaining on the clock and was the quickest time seen of the test, yet for a long time it looked as though Ruiz and Franklin would finish fastest. A time of 1:12.130 set seconds before lunch saw Ruiz head the times for the majority of the day, but Downton's Powers pipped it by just 0.004 seconds.
Reigning champion Adrien Simon was third fastest - just under three tenths off the ultimate pace - with Finn Schnyder fourth for Westwood, just over six tenths slower than Powers. Kiara Thunder was fifth for Holmqvist just over a tenth and a half slower than Schnyder, with all of the top five running on the super soft tyres. In fact, eight of the nine fastest laps were set on super softs, the only anomoly being Dmytro Kovalenko of AMR, running on the soft rubber on his way to sixth fastest. The slowest of the super soft times was Jean Mattson - running in a plan grey livery for Ingram - who crashed into the pit wall in a bizarre incident that ended his day after just nineteen laps. With that, pre-season testing is at an end and the countdown begins for Melbourne - when all 26 drivers will take to the track together for the first time to see who will become the first winner of what looks set to be possibly the closest season in Formula Virtual history.
