Downton FV Team have announced that driver pairing Nathaniel Powers and Klaas van Snelheid will remain with the team in 2018 as the British outfit celebrated their first Constructors' Championship win following the Bahrain V-Prix. The team wrapped up the title with four races to go in the season, and confirmed the announcement just hours after - ending recent speculation that British driver Powers would be leaving the team for their technical partners DS Mathershaw.
"We confirmed before that the rumours of Nathaniel leaving were rubbish, and are happy to announce that both Nathaniel and Klaas will remain with the team as our race drivers to help defend our Championship in 2018." "The contracts have been signed for a while but we wanted to wait until we'd secured this title before we announced anything, purely so we could solely focus on wrapping it up. Nathaniel is delighted to have signed an extension to his contract and be starting his fifth season with us, while Klaas is moving into the second year of his three year contract and is equally as happy to be continuing." "We can also confirm they will be joined by a new reserve driver in the form of Sam Hudson. Sam has had a great debut season in VWRS this year picking up a win in his first season and sits inside the top ten in the championship, and we see potential and are happy to help him further his career." "Of course this means we say goodbye to Marcus Thunder, who will head over to IndyVirtual full-time as was announced earlier this season and compete with Formation Competition. We remain on very good terms and wish him all the best for the future and his current championship challenge."
