Felix Perez and FIRST topped day three of pre-season testing, with the Mexican setting the fastest time seen in the test so far on the extra soft tyres, before crashing heavily on the very next lap. Perez's effort beats the previous best time - set by Downton reserve Matteo Zetticci on the same tyres on day one - by just over two tenths of a second. The Mexican encountered trouble immediately however, as an apparent brake failure into turn one sent the FIRST heavily into the wall, and caused a lengthy stoppage. Johan Halvosen set the second quickest time for North Star on the same tyres - albeit four tenths shy - with triple World Champion Nathaniel Powers getting his first run in the new Downton third, just a tenth further back but on the soft tyres. Adrien Simon put Mathershaw Porsche towards the top again with fourth, less than a tenth behind Powers and on the mediums, but for the third day in a row it was troubled running for the team, who this time started the day late due to engine issues. The same problems affected Elroy Wagner's running in the Lopez - now sparking serious concerns at Porsche - with the German ending the day sixth on the mediums, just four tenths behind Simon. Carson Davenport split the pair in the Lucas on the extra softs but also suffered issues, a water leak confining him to the garage for a lengthy period of time. Diego Campos lapped seventh fastest for Cheema ahead of a much improved showing for Arrow with Rodolfo de la Fuente behind the wheel, and Lewis Ellington in the Meteor - all three on the soft tyres. From tenth down, the six cars were covered by just over a tenth and half, with an array of tyres in use. Jean Mattson in the Ingram headed the runners on the Hards, but his fellow users of the orange walled tyres - James Thompson in the Phoenix and Hunter Ryan in the Ocelot - surprisingly set the two slowest times of the day. Between them Emma Wilson and Jules Barclay lapped on the softs in the AMR and Westwood respectively, while Nick Addison took the Franklin to thirteenth on the mediums.
