Rumours have emerged from the Formula Virtual paddock of disagreement between North Star Racing and engine supplier BMW over who will join Judson Sikes and Aleksy Nowosinki in the NSR-V02 for the 2017 season.
North Star team principal Nick Forrest is understood to be backing the 2016 Virtual Americas Racing Series champion Gabriele García, while BMW would prefer the position go to FV3 challenger Niklaus Hölzberg. Both drivers are currently part of Protostars, the Young Driver Program run by North Star Racing.
García picked up four wins and a further five podiums to secure the 2016 VARS title, including victory in the final round at his home race in Brazil, following a season-long battle with Sam Hudson and fellow rookie Jules Barclay.
Hölzberg, meanwhile, scored just one win and one further podium in a fiercely competitive field, but consistent points scoring kept the German in contention for the FV3 title until the final weekend in Sweden, where any one of nine drivers could have taken the championship.
Both García and Hölzberg will take part in the upcoming Young Driver Test at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain, driving the 2016 NSR-V01.
