It has been a busy off season for the teams, drivers, and the series organizers. In particular for Nic Morley who has spent the last three weeks in Japan, reportedly because of something to do with his Sapporo and Toyota deals with his IndyVirtual team. Morley was recently criticized due to not being in the appropriate country to ensure all things Formula Virtual run smoothly. Due to the trip, the Formula Virtual season will start later than usual, in April. However Morley explained that the later start was for the betterment of the season and series as whole.
"I will admit it has been quite chaotic in some respects. To organize something this big from another country has been quite tricky, but I'm really happy with how everything has come together. The new car design, one of many changes for this year has certainly added the stress on trying to get the season started on time. However I am happy to see the season delayed until the start of April, the first, so it's not a huge wait anyway. If anything it has increased the excitement levels of everyone involved, and that itself creates a positive atmosphere", said Morley. It was rumored a couple of weeks ago that the 2018 season was set to be the last for Formula Virtual. Morley eluded to it during a overheard conversation with team managers. However the Australian has insisted that the series will continue for a 2019 season. "Look, there was the sure possibility 2018 would be our last season. There were a couple of reasons why I had been contemplating this, but I'm happy to see some life has returned to the community. Looking back to 2013 was when I would never imagined it would last for this long, it's exceeded my expectations. It's incredible to believe we are heading towards 100 races this year. At the same time it's been a good run, but as long as everything falls into place I don't see why it won't continue well past 2019", continued Morley. The 2018 season will see a raft of changes, thus creating a lot of excitement for passionate FV fans. Huge aerodynamic changes, multiple engine types, a new logo, a new team, a new circuit, and a new TV overlay are just some of the changes which will be seen during the season. The 2018 season will also host a very special event; Formula Virtual's one-hundredth race. "I'm excited and more so than any season beforehand. Maybe 2013 was very exciting too. The cars look and sound very nice, the best we've ever had in my opinion. What is really making me excited though is the fact that going into this season, most and myself included, have no proper idea who will win this championship. Even after the first arce I still don't think anyone will know, as opposed to seasons gone by. The last few years we have had a pretty good idea, Franklin, DS, Downton, they all had dominant cars as opposed to their rivals. This year I feel it is different, the competition at front is going to make things very interesting and give us our closest season for years", finished Morley. The 2018 Formula Virtual season officially starts on the 30th of March which is when practice will take place. The Australian V-Prix is on the 1st of April.
