Despite his session topping time however, Milkovich had a spin at turn three as rivers formed across the circuit - with second placed Karl Beckenbauer also spinning off on the water. Yellow flags were more of less constant throughout the session and the red flag flew no fewer than six times, the fifth caused by Beckenbauer himself.
Jean Mattson caused the first on his way out of the pits at turn three, but recovered with the help of a pickup truck and returned to the pits, though could only manage twenty-third fastest. Nathaniel Powers caused the second as he followed Mattson off the road at turn three just six minutes after the session restarted, again having to be recovered. Lewis Ellington then had the same off - yet made it as far as the barriers resulting in front right damage to his AMR - and caused the fourth red flag not long before Beckenbauer. The third was due to an off for championship leader Johan Halvosen as he out-braked himself at the hairpin and got beached in the gravel, while the final red flag was for rookie Aleksy Nowosinki who aquaplaned onto the long back straight and spread his North Star down the barriers. In the times Beckenbauer was three tenths shy of Milkovich, with Simon in third just ahead of Ruiz and wet weather specialist Felix Beyer. Championship leader Halvosen was only twenty-second quickest, one spot behind joint closest rival Olen Inman, while Stuart Harrison was seventh. See below for full results:
