Us, VirtualSport present the first major interview Kazuki Armos has given during Peugeot's eventful season. NA: Well, pre-season testing looked like this was going to be a major breakthrough for the team. Since Australia, this pace has disappeared. What's gone wrong?
KA: I can't put my finger on it honestly. We developed all through last season and I was expecting something better. We had major signings in our technical department, so it's confusing. All I can say is the car we developed is now harder to develop more as our technical and aero departments don't understand the car. NA: It was not actually your new signings who came up with this concept, is that were the problem lies? KA: I believe so, if they had developed a car, they would know how to develop it further. With the major regulation change coming in it was so important for us to get these foundations in so we don't fall into this trap again. NA: It's known that Peugeot have reduced their shares in the team, how is the crowdfunding going? KA: Fantastically! We've had a great response and we're about half way to the target with about 200 investors, hopefully it'll be wrapped up soon. NA: Did you expect Peugeot to be so quick to reduce their shares? Did you have warnings? KA: We were fully aware of where we stood when we joined with Peugeot. As far as they are concerned results are what matters, and that's important to us too. However, if we don't perform they don't see why they should invest so much money with low reward. We really must improve at the moment as this is not what we wanted so early on. NA: You confirmed Kurtis Gardner, there are rumours he may be replaced, any truth in this? KA: We need to have the best drivers, but also have viable long term drivers in the car. NA: So to have long term drivers, you need sponsors to fund the driver, is this something Kurtis is lacking? KA: Yes. He doesn't have the sponsorship money we need off a driver. NA: The paddock are suggesting a major announcement next week. KA: Yes, we have to major announcements next week and we advise nobody to miss these. NA: So Kurtis is being replaced due to sponsors? KA: No comment. NA: If Kurtis does lose his seat and another team offered him a racing seat, would you let him leave. KA: We would, we only hold on tightly to major singings.
