In a press meeting after the French GP, where LWGP returned to points with a 10th place for Carson Davenport, but where Hugh Dywer struggled massively, LWGP team owner Lucas Wilson gave his thoughts on many subjects.
Asked about the performance of Hugh Dywer on Sunday, he stated "It was no good to be honest, he really needs to get his ACT together, If he does not perform on the next race, he will be replaced for the rest of the current season by Fillipio Fazio. The team will be unique next year (unless another team signs Volkswagen engines) in that they will be using rev limited W12 engines, Lucas said this "I always liked F1 cars because of the sound they make and I really wanted to make a unique and very loud sound (smiles), when I signed Volkswagen I knew I had an opportunity to create something incredible. There have been many errors, the first couple of weeks into the project the engines were blowing up all the time. We have 3 engine manufacturers to help us with these problems, not only Volkswagen, but also Yamaha my current engine maker and Cosworth. One of the other problems is to actually fit the engine in the car, we have had to make quite a lot of room for the engine, the unit only just fits in, but it looks incredible". We can't wait to hear the sound of the engines for the first time.

Are you going to be promoting one of your GP2 drivers to fill the void of Fillipio Fazio next season?

Hugh Dwyer has been a bit of a let down really, I thought he would have performed much better. I do hope he keeps his seat though!

Nic, I think I should get a discount for picking a junior driver. Comments are closed.
