Complete shock and total surprise has hit the paddock as it has been confirmed that Lucas V-Prix will return to Formula Virtual in 2019. The British outfit famed for it's purple livery will return to Formula Virtual, to compete in their fist season since 2015. The news come ahead of the series 100th race and just hours after North Star revealed a tribute livery for the team.
Lucas Wilson founded the team in 2013 to compete in the inaugural season, picking up two wins along the way in the hands of Carson Davenport and Hugh Dwyer. Their 2014 season was less successful, however did score solid points on occasions. Unfortunately their 2015 campaign was one to forget, failing to score any points and withdrawing after just five rounds due to personal issues, albeit never to be heard from until now. In a remarkable turn of events, rich oil tycoon Lucas Wilson, will return to the Formula Virtual community for 2019 and beyond. After the news of a tender being opened up for three new teams to apply, Lucas V-Prix become the first team to be confirmed. Nic Morley and Lucas Wilson hosted the press conference in which many bystanders were noted to be gobsmacked by Wilsons re-appearance after nearly four years. "I am very happy to announce Lucas V-Prix's return to V-Prix racing starting from next year. I have kept a close eye on the series since I had to leave during extenuating circumstances but I've have always intended the team to return to the series and I feel now is the best time to do that", "I've been talking to Nic about a return since the start of the year. Me and Andy [Andy Dwyer - Technical Director & Co-Founder] been spending the past couple of months bolstering the technical team and talking to the governing body about an entry. I'm not going to lie, we're coming in on the back foot. There are so many amazing teams in this sport and the level of performance is higher than it's ever been before but we are hopeful that we can show that we still have what it takes to score points and podiums" "In the end, it's always been a passion project for me. Money has never been an issue and even if we don't get the success we want - we are still bringing the fun back to the paddock and we're still purple. We are busy planning the parties after every V-Prix and we're planning some surprise guests for concerts", said Wilson. It is yet to be revealed what engines and drivers Lucas V-Prix will use - last using Peugeot engines in 2015. However it has been confirmed they will once again run with the numbers 15 and 16. "I am absolutely ecstatic to see Lucas Wilson return to Formula Virtual in 2019. From the very beginning of Formula Virtual he has shown such a brilliant passion for the sport and his team brought a very unique character to the series. Sadly in 2015 he had to depart due to personal reasons and I absolutely understand why. We have had ongoing discussions and I'm delighted to hear that Lucas had never lost his passion for the sport. I am excited beyond words to see this team return", said Morley. Just two remaining team spots remain, in which are expected to be revealed in the next few days. In the meantime Lucas Wilson is expected to make his return to the paddock and his partying ways. Which engines will they choose, which driver's, the FV silly season has only just begun.
