In a press conference at Bahrain, Lucas GP confirmed Peugeot driver Lewis Ellington will be driving for the British team in 2015. The deal was done through the well known Peugeot-Lucas GP partnership after Peugeot confirmed that they could not afford to keep both Abott and Ellington.
It was a shock move for many as it is well known that Ellington and Lucas GP boss Lucas Wilson had a falling out before the 2013 season, but the team and Ellington insist that the past has been put behind them.
Lewis told the media this morning "Its going to be a really exciting adventure joining Lucas GP, they are race winners, so I hope I can work with the team to produce a great car for the new regulations. It is going to be a bit unusual at first working at the team, as I have only worked for big works teams in the past. Coming to a much smaller independent team is going to have its challenges, but hopefully some benefits".
Team boss, Lucas Wilson gave his thoughts "It is great for Lewis to be joining the team, he is a local lad, who grew up not far from here, so that puts him in good standing with the team. He is a very fast, competent driver, a race winner and everything we want in a driver to bring
